Beware of ANY shop, if they are telling you need a "CAT" in order to pass an Emission Test. Have the converter tested for efficiency first...why? Because in most cases the "CAT" will cost in excess of $200-300 & up...
On many 1994/95 and all 1996 & up vehicles if there is ANY problem with the converter, the OBDII on-board computer WILL store code(s). If you are been told "the CAT is shot" and the "MIL" (Malfunction Indicator Lamp) or "SES" (Service Engine Soon) light
is NOT on - Think Again and HAVE a second opinion...
